awsef water ski experience

The Museum section of the Water Ski Hall of Fame contains a wealth of sports memorabilia for water ski and boating enthusiasts of all ages. Each year, the Museum is host to thousands of individuals and groups who are interested in enjoying the rich history of the sport. The Museum was started in 1980 by the American Water Ski Educational Foundation in Winter Haven, Florida. Outgrowing its space a new AWSEF Water Ski Hall of Fame and Museum was built on Interstate 4, just minutes away from Disney World.

TAKE A WALK THROUGH TIME AND HISTORY

The excitement begins as visitors walk toward the American Water Ski Museum and Hall of Fame as the building’s vibrant, colorful exterior itself reflects the active, refreshing nature of water skiing in all its many forms.

As visitors enter, they are drawn toward the huge open vista that is our museum, so perfectly suited for our outdoor sport.

Visitors are introduced to the diverse world of water skiing through a brief historical timeline.  The photos unveil the nature of our rapidly developing skiing tradition.  Much has happened in our young sport over the years.  Recognition to those individuals who have brought this dream to reality is also displayed prominently and proudly throughout.

Pioneer Hall has exhibits representing all disciplines of the sport underlining their key role in its dynamic growth with all the variety it has to offer.

Special kiosks provide interactive stations where visitors can view the triumphs of the younger members at the forefront of our sport, our worldwide representatives.

The Trophy Gallery is dedicated to the disciplines and their perpetual trophies and surrounded by ceiling-high trophy cases enabling visitors to share in the beauty of years of tradition.

The Museum prides itself as the repository for the sport and its cultural history.  Visitors are welcomed to access the Library and its archives to view first-hand the wealth of video documentation.

As visitors enter the Hall of Fame, their senses are immersed in the essence of the sport where the achievements of those inducted into the Hall of Fame are highlighted.  Those having received the Award of Distinction are also honored on a special display noting their accomplishments.

Together, through the support of thousands of water ski enthusiasts, the AWSEF’s Water Ski Hall of Fame and Museum has grown into an unprecedented repository, literally and figuratively, for our sport in all its many, varied forms.
